North Carolina Children's Theatre

How do I choose a show for my students?
Each show has an age recommendation and theme associated with it. Please check each show for specific age recommendations. We are happy to recommend a show based on your needs, field of study and budget.

How do I schedule a show or class?
It's easy! You can schedule shows, classes or packages by sending a request via our website or by calling us at 919-473-6882. We will be happy to help you set up one program or a series of programs to best suit your time, budget and interest.

When should we book our programs?
Our classes and show times fill quickly so you are encouraged to schedule several weeks in advance when possible. Classes and shows are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why should we add classes to our schedule?
Theatre classes teach students skills which influence all areas of study and performance. Various studies have indicated higher test averages from children who participate in the performing arts. Theatre students tend to have high levels of self-confidence and greater comfort speaking, making presentations, and reading aloud. Students learn to work well with others and adapt to new situations.

What are your teaching artists'/performers qualifications?
Teaching artists and performers at North Carolina Children's Theatre are accomplished, talented actors and educators with a passion for working with students of all ages. All our teaching artists have been trained in theatre education and many have advanced degrees in theatre, education or both. Background checks are processed on all staff of North Carolina Children's Theatre.

What is the minimum/maximum number required for a school performance?
We do not have a minimum number for classes or performances. Our pre-school, school age and storytelling programs are designed for audiences of 30 or less. Larger groups should consider scheduling 2 programs consecutively. Our Full Length productions are appropriate for larger groups. If you're not sure, let us help you pick a program with some flexibility.

Will I receive confirmation of our schedule?
All booked programs will receive an email confirmation. Additionally, North Carolina Children's Theatre will send a reminder email one week prior to the program start date. Be sure to note the start date, time, and location of your program. If you have not received a confirmation within 24 hours of submitting your request, please call us at 919-473-6882.
To avoid having these notifications end up in your junk folder, please add info@NCCTheatre to your list of approved email addresses.

Do I need to make a deposit?

For some productions we can provide a curriculum-based study guides with activities that can be used in the classroom before and after the performance.

Is financial aid available for my school or group?

We make every effort to keep our programs affordable. Although we do not offer financial aid at this time, we can offer discounts when booking multiple shows, classes or combinations of both. Please feel free to call us to discuss your options!

Our school has no stage. Will this prevent us from having you perform here?
No problem! Our touring company is very proficient at using classrooms, gyms and other open areas for their performances.

We have different age groups and attention spans. What program is best for us?
We can do two different shows in one day to accommodate different age groups. Give us a call at 919-473-6228 and we can help you choose.

How far will you travel for performances?
We travel within the triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs) at no additional charge. Locations beyond a 45 minute commute may be subject to a travel fee. Please inquire for further information.

Could the actors answer questions from our students after a performance?
We welcome interaction between the audience and the actors, but only upon request.

Is there a reduced rate for “block” bookings?
Yes, our Touring Performance Coordinator will gladly work with you to secure a reduced rate for multi-bookings.

May I record the performance or take photos/videos?
